Replacement Vs. Repairs

The life of your roof depends on where you live and what conditions the roof will be exposed to. In the midwest where M&M Home Remodeling Services is located, we see a lot of intense temperature changes with our hot summers, freezing winters, and frequent rain or snow. These elements can accelerate the aging of a roof, in addition to even more specific location conditions. Houses located in the woods may deal with more falling debris like acorns or falling branches, while a house on a farm with fewer buildings around will deal with more wind damage.

The life of the roof also heavily depends on the manufacturer and the types of materials used. Companies will offer different warranties based on these, and since weather and location are such unpredictable factors the warranty is one of the most important things to consider.

How Long Should a Roof Repair Last?

A repair is harder to ensure a long lifespan since it uses new materials with the original older materials of the roof. Companies will often only offer limited warranties because of this, and because they can’t offer a guarantee on someone else’s work.

If the repair needed is minor, it could be worth going this route as it is much quicker and more affordable. The lifespan of a repair may not matter as much as a replacement, since the repair could last until you decide to replace the whole roof.

Overview

There are many factors to consider when looking to repair or replace a roof such as location, weather, and materials – all of which make it hard to guarantee a certain amount of time the same job will last for any general home. Because of this it is a good idea to consider the warranty offered so that you can save money in the future on repairs or any work you might need done. Since each situation is unique, the most important thing you can do is to get plenty of information on your options from the roofing company so that you can be confident in your final decision.
