About M&M Home Remodeling Services
We here at M&M Home Remodeling Services firmly believe that it is important to give back to the community that has given us so much. That’s why partner with charitable organizations in need.
This March we joined forces with a wonderful non-profit organization, Phil’s Friends. Our company is based on a culture of giving, so we assembled the entire M&M team to visit their Crown Point facility and lend a helping hand.
So, on March 6th, we started the day off by going to one of their packing facilities. There, we helped make care packages and decorated the boxes they come in. Those, along with some hand-written cards, will go to the people that are currently fighting cancer.
Not only that, but Phil’s Friends also send out these cards to the people who’ve been in remission for a year to let them know that they are loved.
About Phil’s Friends
Phil Zielke, a two-time cancer survivor, started this non-profit Christian organization in 2006. Knowing how difficult the entire process was first-hand, Phil wanted to reach out and help cancer patients who are still in the midst of it.
That’s when he founded Phil’s Friends, a non-profit organization, based in Indiana.
The organization sends out Care Packages, Cards of Hope, and organizes trips to a half a dozen hospitals in Indiana. In addition to financial help, Phil’s Friends also offer emotional, spiritual, and faith-based support through the way of prayer.
What Phil’s Friends Organization Does
The first way that Phil’s Friends organization helps those fighting cancer is by sending out care packages. Once someone requests one, a team of volunteers will carefully package and deliver it to their hospital, in a colorful and decorated box.
Also, they organize the Cards of Hope Program that sends testimonials, heartfelt messages, and words of encouragement to cancer patients. These cars help let them know that they’re not alone in their fight and that they have the support they need to get through it.
Lastly, once a month, the volunteers from Phil’s Friends deliver these packages to the:
- Rush Medical Center
- University of Chicago Medical Center
- Loyola University Medical Center
- Franciscan Cancer Center Munster
- Northwestern Memorial Hospital
- Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital
How Others Can Get Involved
Phil’s Friends organization has made it incredibly easy for anyone to volunteer and start helping. For example, they encourage groups of 10 or less to use their walk-in sessions.
On the other hand, those who have a big group of friends or have their own business and want to help out can schedule a group session.
What’s more, Phil’s Friends encourages families with kids to come down to one of their packing centers to help out. While the adults are busy packing, the little ones can write and draw colorful cards to cheer up cancer patients.
For more information, we recommend taking a look at the Volunteer section of their website. They also have a Donate section, for those who’d like to get involved but don’t have time.
So please, if anyone wants help and donate their time or resources, we suggest taking a look at Phil’s Friends Organization. Just a few hours of our time can mean the world to someone and there are no downsides to it.
